Art, Drama, Movement Camps 2016

So excited to announce that we have settled on dates for our play-based arts summer camp for 2016: Imagine, Create, Grow!

I will be running two camps again this summer with my close friend and owner of Blue Door Art Studio, Kris Morse.  Check out her beautiful blog!  We use play, drama, music and movement to learn important ideas around art, mindfulness and story.  Last year, we had an amazing time creating costumes, graphic novels, stories and using so many different kinds of materials in our art.

Here are the details:
For Rising Kindergarten Students to Grade 3 at Blue Door Art Studio in Silver Spring
with Kris Morse and Tanory Ateek
Does your child love to imagine, pretend, and create? This camp will give your child the chance to learn techniques of art and theater, as well as build confidence, social and problem-solving skills. Camp activities include stories, games, visual arts, movement, drama and free-play in a comfortable, child-directed setting.
Kris and Tanory are artist-teachers and parents with years of combined experience working with young children. They are committed to creating environments where children direct their creative process and explore together their innate senses of beauty and wonder.
Session 1 (3-days): Tuesday, 7/19 – Thursday, 7/21. Daily, 9:30am -1:30pm.
Session 2 (3-days): Tuesday, 8/16- Thursday, 8/18. Daily, 9:30am -1:30pm.
$180 per camp (includes $10 materials fee)
Kris teaches photography courses at GWU and early childhood visual arts classes at Blue Door Art Studio and Sitar Arts Center. She holds a Masters of Arts in Teaching from MICA and is certified to teach grades Pre-K to 12. Kris is an art education consultant and leads professional development workshops for DC-area teachers. She has taught art to students ages two to adult for nearly 20 years.
Tanory is the drama and movement instructor at Silver Spring Day School. She brings her extensive dance training, including time with the Kirov Ballet, a lifetime of community theater experience, as well as a Masters of Arts in Intercultural Studies into her highly intuitive work with children. She also holds certifications from Yoga Alliance and the Lucy School for the Arts.
Blue Door Art Studio is conveniently located in Kris’s home in the South Four Corners Neighborhood of Silver Spring.
